"The newspaper was a new innovation. Commodore Hart had apparently decided that a monthly report covering the business transactions, gossip, etc., mailed out to the entire membership each month was much more vital than the standard annual -- so the newspaper was born. Vice Commodore Kuhlman was appointed the first editor. This newspaper was run off on the mimeograph for this entire year. It was a big job, but was well worth the effort expended. Hank Kuhlman had an awful time figuring out a name for the new paper, but he decided to call it the "Towline" -- a name which has stuck ever since." [Source]

EARLY & ELECTRONIC EDITION TOWLINES (PDF & HTML)*

MY LAST TOWLINE AS EDITOR

I have been your Towline editor for the past three years. It has been a great experience in many ways. There is no better way I can think of to become familiar with the workings of the Bremerton Yacht Club.

It has been a learning experience for me in many ways and I want to thank Capt. Harry Davis for all the help he provided in the early days of my tenure. It would have been much more challenging without his mentoring.

The Towline is only as good as its content. I want to thank all of the Flag Officers and Skipperettes Presidents as well as all the committee chairs for being so faithful and prompt with their articles

I also owe special thanks to Sylvia Wilson, Mona Lisa Ryan and P/C Bob Wheeler for all of their pictures and articles as well as Gunter Krumme for collaborating so well in his role of web page-master.

Mona-Lisa, good luck to you I know you’ll do a fabulous job.

The Towline is Bremerton Yacht Club's printed monthly newsletter. Almost all articles from the Towline are presented on the regular Web site usually 1-2 weeks early. These articles typically include the articles from the flag officers (under "Bridge" and "Committee Reports") or other contributions that are sent in for inclusion on BYC's "public page".

The monthly columns by the BYC Commodores can be accessed through the Reports from the Bridge, usually about 2 weeks before they appear on paper.

For complete information in the traditional Towline format, we have to refer you to the printed paper copy which is sent to all members around the first of the month.

ARCHIVES

Selected Towline articles from the following months of 2001, 2002 and 2003 are still accessible on this Website. Most content of all subsequent Towline issues can be accessed through the Bridge and Committee Reports
