July 2016

Hey Shipmates!

Summer is here!

The June Picnic was a great kick-off. Dick & Carrie Haney planned and coordinated a great ribs and brats BBQ. There were 72 attending and the weather was terrific until a thundershower washed over us as things were winding down. Overall, I would say it was a huge success.

The July picnic, chaired by Jan Cordodor is set for Wednesday July 20th. The menu will be hot dogs and hamburgers for the bargain price of $4. Signup in the clubhouse. We don’t want to be having fun without you.

And don’t forget, the Annual Pig Roast, chaired by P/C Don Park is set for Sunday August 21st.

I am going to keep it short this month as I definitely exceeded my quota last month. So with that…see you around the club. I am glad to be here. I like this place.

Naval Trivia

Now You're talkin': This was originally an expression used by sailors to indicate that the sails were set correctly and the ship was balanced. The term is still used to indicate agreement with what someone else is saying or a particular course of action.

Canteen Medals: Naval name for stains down the front of jumper, jacket or coat caused by food or drink.

— Phil LeBas, Rear Commodore
