HEAVY WEATHER Everyone has heard and will read plenty in this Towline about our Bremerton Yacht Club Heavy Weather weekend coming up. This is a weekend of events from parties, predicted navigation contest, skits and breakfasts. This is "OUR" big weekend which means, YOU as a BYC member can, should and are expected to participate. The weekend takes numerous committees and volunteers to make this all happen and it needs YOU. My responsibility for the social part is the wine tasting party on Friday evening. Andy Kupp is the chairman and has wine tasting and Pizza planned for the evening. Please see the flyer in the Towline.
Please sign up for this and all the other social events planned for the weekend of Feb. 18-20.
I would like to thank Jan Cordodor for chairing the Taco Feedback on January 14th. I have heard this was a fun and delicious event that had a good turnout. Thanks Jan and your committee for putting this on.
PC Mike Dunn is the nomination chairman for the upcoming elections. Elections are held the first Monday in May with nominations the previous two April meetings. This is one of the most important parts of a club like ours to get good qualified members to hold elected positions. When you are asked to step up and run for one of the offices or Executive Committee positions, do your part and accept the nomination. He or his committee will be in contact with you soon. I would like to thank those who have stepped up already to run for some of the positions.
The RC and I will be working on the BYC calendar soon for our upcoming year beginning in June 2011. If you have any comments, input, suggestions, please E mail myself and we will take everything into consideration. I plan on the Memorial Day cruise to someplace we haven't been in a long while. Quartermaster Harbor YC has graciously allowed us to cruise to their club that weekend. More to follow in later Towlines. I also am planning a 4th of July cruise to our outstation in Oro Bay. Stay tuned for these and other important information.
As always, smooth sailing,
VC Leo and Stacy Longenecker
