The clocks have been set back, the days are very much shorter, some cooler and wetter weather is here, and the stores are overflowing with Christmas gifts and decorations. That makes it easy to realize that the year 2008 is coming to a close. However, as one reviews all the events on BYC'S December calendar, and makes a personal schedule to try and catch as many events as possible, one thing becomes quite clear. The social benefits of everyone's membership, and participation, in BYC are outstanding. Check it out yourself, and you will see that there are eight opportunities for "Social Only" events, plus two Business Meeting chances to socialize with your fellow members in the month of December. Abbie and I are looking forward to visiting with many of you in this busy and exciting month, and the chance wish you "all the best" for the Holidays.

Special Peoples Cruise Chairman, P/C Gary Carr, has done an outstanding job of organizing this very worthwhile event. We will be having a great many of these "Special People" eagerly looking forward to their exciting evening on the water, and their big chance to talk directly to Santa on the radio. We could use a few more boats, so if you can join us in this chance to warm the hearts of some deserving folks (plus your own heart), please contact P/C Carr on (360) 830-0442, or sign up in the Club or on the Web.

We are looking forward to joining with 13 other boats during the 11-21 BYC Cruise-In to the Bell Harbor Marina. Everyone has pre-paid their moorage, so the Club gets the entire "C" Dock in the marina. Fleet Captain Mike Petrowske has arranged for tents and heaters on the docks, and has lots of games, fun and drinks on the agenda. Since we have the complete dock, there will be plenty of room, and "Welcome" signs will be out for anyone making a last minute decision to join us. Come One-Come all!

I have posted the Flyer and the Sign-Up sheet for our Annual Christmas Dinner in the Clubhouse on Sunday December 14th. Please join with your fellow Members (and Immediate Family only) in enjoying this wonderful dinner, which will be prepared and served by your Bridge Officers, Executive Committee Members, the Flag Officers, and all their spouses. The decorations, food, entertainment, and opportunity to visit with your BYC friends will make for a memorable evening. This year place cards will be set out, and you can request to be seated with others by E-Mailing your request to Sylvia Wilson.

Our missing person, your Vice Commodore, has apparently paid the ransom to his DOD kidnapper, and will be back with us for good early in December. Rumor has it that he is planning to celebrate his release with a real "Whiz Bang" New Years Eve party on December 31st, so mark your calendars and plan to catch this event. Also, if you think of any kind of a special 'Missing Person' gift for Don that would be appropriate for "Santa" to present to the VC, please be sure to pass it on to your RC, who would be delighted to make sure Santa gets it to him with the appropriate ceremony.

Looking forward to all of us having an enjoyable month of Social Activities, and a very Merry Christmas,
    I remain Your Humble Servant,

    Mike Dunn- Commodore
