I am pleased to be able to announce that the basement repair is complete; thank you all for your patience during this long process.

In the next few weeks and months you will begin to notice club house upgrades that will be taking shape and hopefully bring new energy and excitement to the club by providing a fresh look; if you have ideas or have interest in working with the House and Grounds Chairman in this regard please let her know.

October zoomed by and one of the highlights of the month was definitely the Port Orchard Halloween Cruise, which was chaired by Fleet Captains Mike and Mona-Lisa Ryan. Friday night started with a Galley Get Together at POYC complete with Ivars Clam Chowder in Bread Bowls and beverages. Saturday was a great opportunity to wander around town and return to the dock to decorate pumpkins and get gussied up for the costume contest. We had a ball enjoying appetizers with Port Orchard and BYC members followed by games, contests, prizes and dancing. Speaking of cruises, I hope to see many of you at Brownsville for another close to home get away on November 16th.

Due to popular demand, a new suggestion form is being implemented for members' use at Bremerton Yacht Club. The form is user friendly and can be accessed through the BYC website*; there will be copies available in the Club House. The form will facilitate constructive feedback that not only will give members an opportunity to identify problems or dilemmas, but will also provide a way to offer suggestions and solutions. Aspects of the form include a request to describe the situation and space to include the basic elements of problem solving such as who, what, where, when and how much will it cost.

Please take some time to offer your hospitality to our new members and potential candidates for membership. Our membership chairman, Captain Kevin McStay has been doing a great job this year of introducing boaters to our fine group. It really has been a wonderful opportunity to get to meet so many new members this year.

Can you believe, in a few short days the Holidays will be here and plenty will be happening at BYC? If you have not already signed up for the Special People's Cruise and the Lighted Boat Parade, please do so, soon.

The Children's Christmas Party will be again held the first Saturday of December, 12/01/07 and BYC children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren are all invited. Also this season, please bring a non-perishable food item next time you visit the club for the Bremerton Food Bank. The donation box will be located in the main entry way, under the telephone station. Your support is greatly appreciated.

I wish you and your families a blessed and peaceful Thanksgiving. We have much to reflect and be grateful for. For all of your support, friendship and kindness - my family and I thank you.

    My best to all,

    Commodore Don Hardgrove
