It was brought to my attention that there are some users that
fail to shut off the lights/fan in the west men’s restroom when
leaving. The concern was that of the fan running continuously, getting
hot and possibly causing a fire. As a result of this concern, I have
appointed a “special agent in charge of lights & fans”. He shall remain
anonymous,
but will be ever watchful for those of us who fail to turn off the
lights/fan. I can tell you that you will not want to incur his wrath,
because he is just as concerned with this “problem” as he is about
preserving the trees in the park.
Another concern that has come up, is building
security. Please be reminded that when having a meeting or gathering in
the clubhouse, it is the responsibility of the chairperson to ensure the
building is secured (locked up) at the conclusion of the event. When I
am in attendance, I will take care of it if I am the last one to
leave. We are very fortunate to have live-aboards who take care of those
of us who may be forgetful, but in the absence of “caretakers”, we all
need to be responsible and “check the doors and lights” when we lveea,
...
And, along the same line of thought, the keypad combinations for
the gate have been changed, so don’t forget your gate key card or garage
door opener when you come to the club.
While on the subject of security, you may have read the recent
article in The SUN regarding the theft of outboard motors at the Port
Orchard Marina and in Gig Harbor. It is appropriate that we all be aware
that the same thing could happen at BYC. Let’s all be alert and take
note of any suspicious vessels operating in and around the floats.
You may have noticed that the renovation of the apartment is
underway. Capt. Don Sherwood and crew are busy ripping out,
remodeling
and refurbishing the area. If you have some expertise and the desire to
help, let Don know, as we want to get the job done as quickly and as
professionally as possible.
The Officers Cruise-In is coming up on the weekend of 1-3
August. If you’re going to be away for that weekend, and are willing to
let your slip/boathouse be used, please tell Capt. Jim Picinich,
the
Float
