Coming new to your Doorsteps:
26 April 2008:

Organizers: Fred Cole (POYC), Mike Henry & Chuck Silvernail (BYC)

Regatta For Power Report at 5 May Business Mtg (Minutes): Capt. Silvernail reported that the First (2008) "Easy Pickins" log race turned out to be a big success with 17 boats contesting. Errors were very low thanks to the permitted use of navigation aids. The winning boat from QCYC had an error of .276 minutes. P/C Henry took second overall, once again operating on a single engine. Capt. Owen Ritter and Capt. Silvernail were first and second in class one respectively. P/C Longnecker and Capt. Brett also competed in the race. He reported that he expects the IPBA will not support use of navigation aids other than radar in the future. He congratulated P/C Henry who is likely to be the South Sound leader when the season ends next month.

BYC-POYC IPBA PREDICTED LOG RACE

Port Orchard YC and Bremerton YC are not only close in proximity, but share a rich commoradery among the log racing members. P/C Mike Henry (BYC) and P/C Fred Cole (POYC) introduced the concept of a IPBA sanctioned predicted log race to celebrate this relationship. The inaugural "West Sound Easy Pinckins' Race" on April 26, 2008 will start this tradition. Every other year, the race will start at one club and end at the other. The 2008 race will start at the Bremerton Yacht Club.

The concept of the race was to create an event that would draw the local log racers together and showcase the fun and social rewards that are part of predicted log racing. The event will be a low budget affair, designed around an informal program, that includes a shorter race, easy to identify way points, informal meals, and simplified course identification, through the use of charting programs and GPS positioning.

Current log racers, from both clubs, are available to help both new and old log racers in race preparation. The race material is posted on the IPBA website and in the clubhouses for both clubs.

Everyone is invited to participate. We hope to see you there.

The BYC WebTeam has not received any other race information. Please consult the IPBA website!
