The Novice-Big Brother Race was held on October 26, 2003 and the winner was our own BYC Secretary and only novice, Ron Morse with P/C Leo Longenecker as his big brother. Leo was unable to go along on race day, so I went along to help out, and Ron did very well, having a score of 2.1067% error.
The BYC Past Commodores Cup club race was scheduled for Sunday, November 16. At 1000 Sunday morning the wind was blowing and the bay was full of white caps. The forecast was for very high winds, so the race was postponed two weeks until November 30th. By noon, the wind had dropped, the sun came out, and we could have run the race as scheduled. That's what I get for listening to the weatherman. The P/C Cup race is the first of two tune-up club races before the Heavy Weather contest, and is always lots of fun. It will start off of Annapolis, proceed through Rich Passage, and finish at Manette. The contest, when it is run, will be followed by a super potluck! The results will be in next months Towline.

October 26 (as corrected), 2003. This club race is very easy contest,
and is designed
for
the skipper who has never entered a navigation contest before, but would
like to learn how it's done. The new skipper (Novice) is paired with an
experienced skipper (Big Brother) who will show you the ropes. The Big
Brother will ride along with you during the contest, and be your
observer. You can chose your own Big Brother, or contact me, and I will
find you one. Logs for the contest are in the rack by the club store.
