Oro Bay Outstation Report

November 17, 2004

2005 Reports

This past season at Oro Bay has been busy and enjoyable. The weather
has been great. Ninety two members visited the outstation through
Labor Day and spent a total of 409 days here. Fishing was great for at
least one First Mate and Dungeness crabbing was outstanding for many

There have been many accomplishments this year making stays here safer
and more comfortable. Following are items completed as a result of
Work Party/volunteer effort:
	-Installed Life Rings on floats
	-Replaced lighting on dock
-Erected a storage shed for barbeque, utensil and materials
necessary for cruise-	ins.
-A sink has been installed for utensil cleaning
-Repaired cyclone fence between BYC and TYC
-Dropped and cut up 5 dead/dangerous trees
-Removed stumps from parking area, spread ten yards of pit run
gravel and topped with crushed gravel.
-Installed a meter and filter at water inlet on float.
-Constructed and installed 6 benches around fire pit, these
with backrests than can convert to a table.
-Washington Department of Natural Resources removed the
derelict vessel the week previous to Labor Day—this was an activity
that took the better part of a work week to the entertainment of many
island residents and visitors.

I am pleased to report that “The Car” is doing great! It was used a
total of 101 individual times. Contributions have been such that we
now have a total of $156.53 in the account that includes $60 in a debit
account at the Island General Store for fuel and $15 license fee
refund. I don’t think the price of fuel is going to come down any time
soon and we can expect insurance rates to increase, so based on
residual and expecting about the same number of boats next year, if
every boat visitor contributed $6 we should be OK. I do know that
there were several people that contributed much more and we should all
thank them for this. The convenience of having a car available at the
outstation is appreciated.
Until next time,

Bryan Golden
Oro Bay Outstation Chairman
