...Right around the corner was Labor Day Weekend at Oro Bay.
Fleet Captain,
P/C Leo Longnecker and Stacy provided food, entertainment and a lot of
creativity. There was a great carnival for kids, of all ages and members
complete with games and prizes. Capt Al Gonzales cooked up a wonderful
meal with steak and special side dishes and Stacy's famous ribs the
following evening along with Movie Night proved to be an overwhelming
success as we shared a chuckle, watching Cabin Boy - not sure how this one
escaped an Academy Award. Thank you to everyone who participated in
readying the Fairy Ferry float; a.k.a. Car donated by Captain Clifford
Lillybridge for the Anderson Island Annual Parade and who jumped in and
made costumes or wore your own creations. Bremerton Yacht Club took first
Place and Islanders can't wait to see what we come up with next year, so
if anyone wants to chair a Parade/Float Committee, contact RC Mike

September put the "ribbon" on a great summer. It started out with the Labor Day Cruise to Oro Bay. Those of you that did not make it missed one really great weekend as our Fleet Captain, P/C Leo Longnecker (whose special talents at hosting were beautifully complemented by Stacie) left no stone unturned in wining, dining, and entertaining a totally full house. Well Done Leo and Crew! (RC Mike Dunn, Source) |

For the past 10 or more years Bremerton Yacht Club has participated in the Anderson Island Labor Day Parade. We have walked, tossed candy, and even had lavishly built floats (Brian Golden’s truck in disguise). This coming year the theme for the parade is "Flower Fairy" . The theme is in honor of a mysterious Flower Fairy who for several years has been placing bouquets of flowers on random doorsteps, ringing the bells and then disappearing into thin air.BYC has a rich history of participating in Anderson Island events. It is our way of supporting the community who has so warmly welcomed us onto their Island. So this year, as in the past, BYC will take part in the parade. So gather your best Flower Child costume and come along for the fun.
