Head, Clew or Tack? Which is which?

Eventually,
the skipper
figured it out

Photos: Heidi Hutchinson

ANSWER:
"In a triangular sail, the upper point is known as the head; the halyard, the line which raises the sail, is attached to the head. The lower two points of the sail, on either end of the foot (the bottom edge of the sail), are called the tack (forward) and clew (aft)." [From: Wikipedia]

These sailing pages are continually developed. We want to hear from you on what you would like to see here. Initially, we have plans for placing sailing events (races, rendezvous', etc.), links to other sail related sites, and contacts for people who may be looking for crew. Please let the BYC WebTeam or the Sail Chair know your ideas.
