The end of the Summer cruising season was celebrated with a great Club Cruise-In to Oro Bay over the Labor Day weekend. We had 25 boats and two RVs make it to Oro Bay. Many thanks to Fleet Captain Dick and Carrie Haney for ordering in great weather and all of their work preparing for and coordinating the weekend. They kept the place hopping with the ladder golf tournament, the ever-popular horse races put on by the PCs, and of course, the blindfold dinghy races. We had a nice turnout for the Anderson Island Labor Day parade, walking amongst the horses, Harleys, and classic autos, being cheered on from the store to the Community Center. And then the weekend was capped off with the generosity of the Anderson Island Fire Department who once again prepared and served a great Sunday dinner to our members in thanks for their use of our facility for their emergency response boat.

We would also like to thank Captain Norm Smith and his crew for putting on another great Salmon BBQ. 60 members and 17 guests were treated to salmon, corn, and fixings. It was another splendid day in the park with great food and fellowship. What a way to wrap up the summer picnics!

As this Towline is published, we will be wrapping up another Club Cruise-In, this time to Arabella's Landing in Gig Harbor. It looks like we will fill the marina and are looking forward to another great event from our Fleet Captains.

Off the Bow

The fall season is fully upon us, and we can't think of a better way to do that than the Oktoberfest Dinner hosted by PC Bob and Jytte Wheeler on October 6th for the 17th straight year! Please see the flyer and sign-up immediately if you have not already, and be prepared for Jyttes' tremendously popular dinner. And thank you Jytte, and Bob too, for doing this as long as you have. This has long been one of the highlight events of the year.

Our Business Meetings are back in session, on the first and third Monday of every month. We are planning to deviate from the normal 7:00 start time for many of the first Monday meetings to have a 6:00 light dinner, followed by a guest speaker prior to the normal business meeting agenda. The store will be open for a social prior to the dinner. The meetings for October 2nd and November 6th are the two dinner meetings for the fall.

As we approach the holiday season ahead, we will begin planning for our normal full slate of events which will include the Clubhouse Decorating, Children's Christmas Party, Special People's Cruise, Christmas Dinner, Lighted Boat Parade, and a New Year's Eve gathering. There are many opportunities to get involved and help. Please watch for notices on the bulletin board identifying event chairs and planning meetings.
