Reports from the Bridge

October 2016

Let me start by thanking several hosts for some great September events.  Thank you Fleet Captain Stacy Longenecker for a very fun, full, and tasty Labor Day Cruise In.  Stacy, Leo, and all of the helping hands made the weekend a blast and even Vic Piotrowski contributed in absentia with what seemed an endless bowl of iced shrimp.  What a treat!  And a special thanks to the Anderson Island Fire Department for a very fine steak dinner and desert Saturday night.  It is quite a payback they provide for us making our docks available for serving the emergency needs of Anderson Island.

Thank you Don Sherwood and his tried and tested crew for yet again putting on a fine salmon barbeque.  The Coho, corn, coleslaw, and garlic bread were perfect.  And thank you Ytte and Bob Wheeler for bringing October in properly with another great Oktoberfest dinner, replete with authentic music, bratwurst and sauerkraut, and desert.  Don and Ytte are two members whose long-time efforts have created such special events that we look forward to each year.

We hope you will join us for the Junior Officer Ball that will be held on 15 October.  The Ball theme will be A Magical Mystery Tour so come see how Stacy transforms the clubhouse and enjoy some fun dancing to the music of Strawberry Fields. For those of you into the Beatles, don’t miss the chance to take shot at a Beatle’s themed cookie jar in an ongoing raffle.  Proceeds will benefit both a little more fun at the JO Ball and the Youth Sailing program.

Peeking ahead to November, look for the PC Breakfast on November 6th.  The hits just keep coming!

Looking forward to seeing back at our Business Meetings and the upcoming events.

John Burwell, Vice Commodore.
