Reports from the Bridge

September 2016

Wow, summer finally hit hard in August.  What spectacular weather!  As my fellow bridge officers have, I would like to thank everybody for paving the way for the Grand 14 Officer’s Cruise-In.  Every August, BYC makes the marina and shore facilities available for the bridges from all fourteen clubs to get together for a long weekend.  And this year, as in past years, we hear so much praise and gratitude from our counterparts for hosting this event and it is because of all of the hard work of our members that we have such great facilities to offer.  The recent work on replacing the railway, repairing the cart, and, pending permit, the upgrade of A-String, are further examples.  Thank you.

Get ready for the Salmon Bake at 1500 on 18 September!  Don Sherwood will once again host this event.  The price is still up in the air, but the experience is not as we know Don’s crew will once again provide an excellent northwest salmon dinner.  For anybody that would like to garner their secrets, please contact me or Don to lend a hand in this popular event.

And at the end of September, we will have the great pleasure of an early Oktoberfest dinner, again hosted by Jytte and PC Bob Wheeler.  Come on Friday night, 30 September, to enjoy this great traditional meal.

And then, there is the BYC Junior Officer Ball that will be held on 15 October.  Nina and I are very excited that Stacy Longenecker has taken on the overall coordination of this event and Jan Cordodor already has a fine meal planned.  The Ball theme will be A Magical Mystery Tour so dig out your psychedelic best and join us for some fun dancing to the music of Strawberry Fields.
