Reports from the Bridge

August 2016

Ahoy,

Summer time brings about a quiet time as far as club business with summer cruising, needed maintenance, and the occasional picnic in the park normally being the key activities.  One area I would like to draw attention to is new memberships.  CAPT John Watson has picked up the reigns from CAPT Paula Lewis and like Paula last year, John has been bringing a steady stream of new members for summer obligation.  Please take note of the new memberships highlighted in the Towline and when you see new faces walking our docks, introduce yourself and welcome them to the club.

CAPT Don Sherwood will once again host a Salmon Bake at 1500 on 18 September.  The price is still up in the air, but the experience is not as we know Don’s crew will once again provide an excellent northwest salmon dinner.  For anybody that would like to garner their secrets, please contact me or Don to lend a hand in this popular event.

And then, there is the JUNIOR OFFICER BALL that will be hosted by myself, Nina and Rear Commodore Phil and Susan LeBas.  SAVE THE DATE: 15 October!  We will have a 1960’s themed bash with a great meal followed with even greater dancing to the music of Strawberry Fields.  Stacy Longenecker has agreed to chair this event, and we are excited to show our Grand XIV visitors what a great time we can have here at BYC.  More info will follow over the next two months.

In the meantime, enjoy the summer and our spectacular waters,

John
