Reports from the Bridge

July 2016

What a fantastic showing of appreciation was given to Past Commodore Mike and Ruth Murray at the Commodore Ball June 4th. It was a sellout crowd, and a great job by Past Commodore Ray Norton and crew. Followed by another hot day on the docks enjoying the hospitality at the “B” String Party.

Congratulations to the winners of the Regatta for Sail, Blake Island Race and the IPBA Filucy Bay Predicted Log Race. I would also like to say thank you to our Regatta for Power and Regatta for Sail Chairs respectively: Steve Brett and Jay Spearman, along with their crew.

Vice Commodore John and Nina Burwell, Rose and I, along the rest of the Junior Officers of the Grand 14 were welcomed by Queen City Yacht Club as our host for our last JO Ball. We are glad that we had the opportunity to reciprocate with the Queen City Yacht Club at the Big Brother Cruise-In here at BYC.

I want to extend a warm welcome to our new members: Colin Connor, Mike Murray, Jesse and Baillie Linden, as well as Sean and Melinda Swansboro who were obligated in a special meeting due to circumstances.

Please be sure to mark your calendars and sign up for BYC Dingy Cruise to the Boat Shed on Saturday July 16th.

In closing a quote from Benjamin Franklin: “Who is wise? He that learns from everyone. Who is powerful? He that governs his passions. Who is rich? He that is content. Who is that? Nobody.".

We look forward to seeing everyone at our events and around the Club,

Commodore Dan Saikkonen
