Reports from the Bridge

Jul 2015

Well, summer is here early this year. Which gives us all great opportunities to get out, as Commodore Murray said, and enjoy our boats ON the water. Either on individual or small group adventures, and/or as part of the upcoming BYC cruises under the direction of Fleet Captain Stacy Longenecker.

By the time this comes out we will have had the pleasure of enjoying our Big Brothers (QYC) out station at Winslow. I'm sure it was a good time had by all.

Some possible upcoming Socials being talked about are: Members Boat & Car Show with PC Don Floyd as Chair, Dance Lessons with JR Collier as Chair, and the Friday after Thanksgiving an "Apple Cup Party" with Paul Vanamerongen as Chair. Please let me know your ideas, I am wide open to suggestions. Also, mark your calendars for July 15th for our next Picnic in the Park. Followed by the Pig Roast in August with PC Don Park as Chair. It was wonderful seeing so many members (about 120) enjoying one another's camaraderie at the June Picnic in the Park. When you see Angie Zimmerman, let her know how much we enjoyed all of the work by her and her committee.

In closing a quote from Benjamin Franklin: "Without Freedom of Thought, there can be no such thing as Wisdom; and no such thing as public Liberty, without Freedom of Speech."

We look forward to seeing everyone at our events and around the Club,

Dan Saikkonen
Vice Commodore
