Wow, it’s hard to believe that this is the last Towline article as your Vice Commodore. It has been a wonderful two years serving as a Junior Officer for the Bremerton Yacht Club. To quote our Commodore, “Is this a Great Club or What?” I want to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to Commodore Mike & Ruth Murry for your guidance and support through these last two years. Along with this being my last article as VC, Rose & I only have one more Grand 14 Junior Officer Ball to attend representing you. This will be held at our Big Brother Club, Queen City Yacht Club.
We had a wonderful time at the Tacoma Yacht Clubs Daffodil Festival April 15th – 17th. Our Rear Commodore John Burwell did a great job representing us as the Token for the Trivia portion of the weekend. Capt Phil Mhoon and his crew also provided for a fantastic afternoon on the water piloting the Officer Boat for the parade down the Foss Waterway. And a special thanks to Al, Joanne and Janene Gonzalez for being there as our cheering crowd.
Then our last outside activity as VC, is topped off by the Seattle Yacht Clubs Opening Day. Many of our members will enjoy the hospitality of our Big Brother, Queen City Yacht Club. We are looking forward to spending time with our friends from BYC, as well as all the great friendships we have had the opportunity to develop through the Grand 14.
By the time you receive this issue the elections will be behind us, and hopefully I have been voted in as your Commodore, Elect. Followed by Award Night on Friday May 13th, and then the Change of Watch on Friday May 20th.
Watch for the sign-up sheets for our Memorial Weekend Club Cruise-In May 27th – 29th to Quartermaster Harbor Yacht Club under the guidance of Fleet Capt Stacy and PC Leo Longenecker.
In closing a quote from Benjamin Franklin: "The Constitution only guarantees the American people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself."
We look forward to seeing everyone at our events and around the Club,
