Reports from the Bridge

To try and to fail is at least to learn. To fail to try is to suffer the inestimable loss of what might have been.

Heavy Weather is just around the corner. Our Regatta for Power Chair Jim VanAntwerp has a challenging race all laid out for the racers and your Bridge has a weekend full of fun social events to complement Jim's efforts. While we have in place the needed manpower to properly stage this event, we can always use additional help so if you are interested, please let one of the Bridge Officers know and we'll find a home for your volunteerism!

Following Heavy Weather, the next big event will be our St. Patty's Day Cruise to Poulsbo March 13-15. Our Fleet Captain, Paula Lewis, has another great cruise lined up so be sure to put that on your calendar and plan on attending. The St. Patty's Day cruise is immediately followed by the annual visit from the Seattle Yacht Club's "Trio" for our March 16 Regular Business Meeting where they will promote the 2015 edition of Opening Day which will be May 1 - 3 this year. While this is a billed as a "Regular" Business Meeting, it is really anything but as it is preceded by a delicious corned beef dinner put together this year by Al Gonzalez, Jytte Wheeler and John Watson. Be sure to sign up for this great meal and stay for the meeting. You'll be glad you did.

In April, we get to visit our friends at the Tacoma Yacht Club April 10 - 12 for their ever popular Daffodil Festival and decorated boat parade. This year, we will be aboard Impressions proudly showing the BYC colors in the parade on Sunday and hope to have a large contingent from the BYC to cheer for our Music Trivia "token", Rear Commodore Dan Saikkonen on Saturday afternoon. This is a fun filled weekend of activities and you are all invited. There is plenty of no cost moorage space so plan on bringing your boat and spend the weekend with us at the TYC. Be sure to sign up for your moorage by visiting the TYC website at .

The month of May will bring Opening Day, Officer Elections and Installation of Officers. I'll provide more details on those events next month. In the meantime, get involved with your Club. Make new friends by participating in the fun events available. There is plenty to do so if you want to get the most out of your membership, it is really up to you!

With warm personal regards,
Ray Norton
