Reports from the Bridge

Jan 2014

Welcome 2014!

Aside from life’s ‘regular’ demands, December was a hectic with many extra tasks that kept many of us busy at the club.

I’ll start my new year with thanking once again, those members who have given of their time to our club and community with their enthusiasm and spirit.

Susan Labas: For the first time working on the Special Peoples Cruise (12/1), she was gracious in agreeing to be Chair for our annual event. Working with student volunteers from both Bremerton High School and Klahowya Secondary School, staff from Kitsap Credit Union, members of Bremerton’s VFW Post 239, Kitsap Transit, as well as our own members (Phew!), I want to acknowledge that she did an OUTSTANDING job for the first time out! She has every reason to be pleased with a job amazingly well done.

Steve Brett: Once again, he did a fabulous job of scoping out our route and leading the Lighted Boat Parade both nights (12/20 & 21)

Mike Petrowski: Provided It’ll Do as our Santa Boat for both nights  of the parade – even while struggling with a bout of cooties! Thank you especially, Mike, for allowing me to have my way in your galley!

Executive Committee & fellow Bridge Officers: Your efforts made the Christmas Dinner (12/15) a truly joyous occasion for those attending! Everyone worked in perfect harmony with each other from start to finish!

Team Gonzales: Al and son, David, along with wives Joanne and Debbie worked many more hours than the rest of the dinner committee with all the shopping, food prep, and final touches, to deliver the attending membership another delicious holiday meal! This team deserves so much more than mere “Thanks!” can deliver, so I’ll have to come up with something a little more special! Hmmmm…..

Our next big event at the club will be Heavy Weather Weekend which will be featuring the expected ‘skits’. This is a call out for all those folks who cannot ‘perform’ in front of a crowd, but would like to be involved. This big weekend event depends on the efforts of many. PLEASE contact me to find out how you can help behind the scenes. There is a spot just for YOU! More will be announced at our next General Meeting (1/6/14).

If you’d like to be a part of the creation of our Vaudeville act(s), please contact me by phone or email. Remember, it takes the efforts of many to make any event possible let alone successful!

My husband Mike and I are proud to continue representing BYC at the Grand 14 Commodore’s Balls and always look forward to playing dress up while we take pleasure in hanging out with our comrades. We thank the membership for their continued support!

Keeping it positive with Good Will to all!
