Reports from the Bridge

Nov 2011

Fall is upon us and with it a ramping up of social activities. We have just enjoyed another fabulous Oktoberfest. PC Bob and Jytte Wheeler and their seasoned committee once again showed why this annual event is one of the best attended of all BYC events. When you combine great food and beverages with the “Happy Wanderers” musical group a good time is had by all. Thanks to PC Bob, Jytte and committee for hosting this popular event.

Next up is New Members Night on November 18. Deana Brett and Bev Bruins will host this year’s event and you can bet on some imaginative ways to get to know more about each other. We look forward to a large turnout for this event as we welcome our new members to the BYC family.

Fall also starts the new round of Junior Officer Balls. With last year’s Vice Commodores moving on to their roles as Commodores, we now have a new class of Rear Commodores to get to know as we share this year’s J.O. Balls with them. These events give us the opportunity to continue to learn how other clubs operate while meeting some very nice people that all enjoy spending time on the water. Bev and I continue to enjoy representing BYC at these events.

I encourage everyone to take advantage of our excellent website to stay up-to-date on what is happening around BYC. Our online Towline capabilities limit the space that can be used for event flyers but those flyers are generally available for viewing on the events portion of the website. If you have other questions about what is going on at BYC, give me a call. I may not have all the answers but I may know who has the answer we’d be looking for.
