Reports from the Bridge

Jan 2012

Bev and I hope you all had a happy holiday season and the new year brings both good fortune and good health. It was sure nice to have such great attendance at both the Family Christmas party and the Christmas Dinner, those that missed either missed a good time. You might think that with the holidays behind us that things would slow down a little around BYC, yeah right. Mark your calendar to make sure you don’t miss the “Taco Feed” on January 20. Jan Cordodor and her committee will be ready to treat your south of the border taste buds and provide the surrounds for a laid back social evening. Then on February 4, Bret and Lynetta Halffman will head up the annual “Crab Feed”, this is always a don’t miss event, sign up early.

Our Grand 14 calendar gets rolling again as we have the annual “Officer’s Cruise-In” to Queen City Yacht Clubs out station in Winslow. At this event, each of the clubs “roast” their current commodores, always a fun time. We’ll be back on the Junior Officer Ball circuit as we head for Meydenbauer Bay Yacht Club in January and then off to Gig Harbor in February.

Heavy Weather is not that far off and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved and help put on this traditional event. There are plenty of committee chairs that could use an extra hand, just ask how you can help.

Bev continues to mend from her hip fracture and hopefully the crutches can go into storage soon, she misses her total independence. We appreciate all the well wishes and concern from our BYC family and look forward to being back at full speed.

See you around the Club,

Rob Bruins
