Reports from the Bridge

Dec 2011

It was good to see so many of our new members take part in “New Member’s Night” as Deana Brett and committee made it easy for people to enjoy some excellent hors d’oeuvres and dessert snacks while visiting with all those present. I’d like to thank Bev, Deana and the committee for making the evening so much fun.

As many of you know, Bev had an accident at the Edmonds Yacht Club Junior Officer’s Ball and fractured her hip. She now has six to eight weeks of using crutches or a walker as she has to keep the weight off her right hip. I don’t suppose there is ever a good time for something like this to happen but when you consider that our daughter Jenny gave birth to our first grandkids, twin boys, just the day before. You can image Bev’s plans to help Jenny out and for the entire holiday season have been dealt a sever blow. However, Bev loves to have things to look forward to and with the recent announcement of our daughter Jill’s engagement she will be busy making wedding plans.

Speaking of looking forward, we have several BYC events on the horizon. Following all the Christmas activities there will be a New Year’s Eve Party hosted by Nancy Whitaker. Nancy could use some more committee help so give her a call if you can help out. Next up will be the “Taco Feed” on January 20th hosted by Jan Cordodor. Jan would like to get some newer members involved with her established committee, so here is an opportunity for new members, give her a call. We have firmed up the dates for our next “Big Brother” event that will be hosted by us here at BYC July 13-15. Hope you can join us in welcoming our friends from Queen City Yacht Club. Don’t forget that there will be plenty to keep everyone busy during Heavy Weather so plan on getting involved; just ask how you can help out.

See you around the club,

Rob Bruins
