Reports from the Bridge

The first weekend in May again marks Opening Day for yachting in the Northwest. Seattle Yacht Club’s theme this year will be Caribbean Carnival and what an entry we have. P/C Carr’s yacht “Seadragon” will be decorated with a design by Consuelo Waldorf and entered as BYC’s entry. Please take the time to look at the design posted in the lounge and express your thanks to Consuelo for her efforts. I am very envious of such talent! I hope to see many BYC boats there. It’s always a great weekend!

The annual Awards Night will be on 12 May with refreshments and heavy hors d’ oeuvres hosted by CAPT Mike and Mona-Lisa Ryan. I encourage you new members to step forward and give them a hand. I guarantee you will have a great time, meet some new friends, learn how to chair an event and earn the points!

CAPT Bob and Marva McWaid have stepped forward to chair the Mother’s Day Breakfast on 14 May. They have promised Swedish Pancakes again from their “secret” recipe. Again you new members, step forward and volunteer to help. Please use the signup sheet to be posted in the lounge so they have a firm number for planning.

A week later is the BYC Installation of Officers on 19 May. The ceremony will be preceded by hors d’ oeuvres and some liquid refreshments with cake and champagne served afterward. I look forward to seeing you there to honor our outgoing officers and welcoming in the new.
