As I sit to write this article, I find it hard to believe that I am beginning my fourth year at the “head table” and get to swing the gavel. It has truly been a great experience and I look forward to serving as your Commodore and working with you in the year to come. First off, I would like to express on behalf of all the members, our thanks and appreciation for the superb leadership and efforts of Ex-Commodore Charlie and Sharon Billings over the last three years. What a great team!! May you now have time for some real leisurely cruising.
The annual Award’s Night hosted by Ex-Commodore Billings was a huge success. The “light” hors d’ oeuvres of an Asian flavor planned and served by Mona-Lisa Ryan and her Captain Mike and crew were out of this world. Those who did not attend missed a real treat. Check out the list of award recipients elsewhere [on this Web site]. The Mother’s Day Brunch was the largest event we have had in some time! Many thanks to CAPT Bob and Marva McWaid and their crew for stepping up to host this popular event. Well Done!
For those who were unable to attend the Installation of Officers, I urge you to check the BYC website, bulletin board, and door in front of the mail slots and become familiar with those officers and committee chair persons who will be leading our Club during the next year. I look forward to working with them as we continue our path to sound fiscal, social, cruising and racing activities that we have come to expect and enjoy.
Upcoming events not to be missed are the Commodore’s Ball on 3 June where we will honor Ex-Commodore Charlie and Sharon Billings and the Big Brother Cruise to the QCYC outstation at Eagle Harbor on 24-25 June. As we have been accused of “apeknapping” the QCYC mascot, I am sure we are in for some real surprises!
Remember it is time to renew you vessel registration – the deadline is 30 June. Be sure to turn in a copy to the Float Committee for their records and ensure your liability insurance is up to date.
Lastly, Penny and I wish to thank all those members and their spouses who have helped as Committee and Event Chairs, advisors and supporters during the past year. We could not have done it without you.
