The first major Club event of the season begins with the Memorial Day Cruise to Oro Bay, 27 May to 31 May. A great four day event has been planned by Fleet Captains Andy Kupp and P/C Bob Bachman. Almost thirty boats have signed up including some “land yachts.” It should be a fun filled weekend including a steak dinner at the Fire Chief’s home on Saturday and a pancake breakfast at the Fire House on Sunday. Be sure to check the flyer and signup sheet in the lounge. As an aside, I hope that members would take a moment during this weekend to pause and remember that the purpose of Memorial Day is to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our country and that at this time many are still in harm’s way. The Commodore’s Ball is scheduled for 4 June honoring our Ex/Commodore Rod Perryman and First Mate Angela. P/C Bob Bachman is Chairman of this event which promises to be a great affair. Be sure to signup in the lounge if you plan to attend. The first Picnic in the Park for this season will be Wednesday, 15 June at 1830. This event will be chaired by CAPT Andy Kupp. See the flyer and signup sheet in the lounge. These are informal family affairs – come and enjoy this great BYC asset! Ending June is the BYC/QCYC Big Brother weekend at Eagle Harbor on the 24th through the 26th. In the past, this has been a great event and an opportunity to share good times with our fellow boaters from Queen City. Watch for the flyer and signup sheet in the lounge. As a reminder, the BYC Youth Sailing Program begins on 27 June and volunteers are still needed to operate chase boats to keep this program safe. This is a very worthwhile, club sponsored event which needs support. If interested, please contact CAPT Mike Knight, our Youth Sailing Committee Chairman, or the Facility Manager Jim Busse. The youth we mentor today are members tomorrow! Skål,
Ronald Morse
