Heavy Weather Weekend is behind us, so spring must be here. Thanks again to all of you who helped make the weekend so successful.

Those of you who missed the Dinner Meeting on March 7th*, missed not only a great "show" put on by the Seattle Yacht Club Opening Day Admiral, Vice Admiral and Admiralette, but most especially a wonderful Corned Beef & Cabbage dinner prepared by Chef Al Gonzalez and his crew. This is one of my most favorite meals, and I have never been disappointed by Al’s “CB&C”. We are so fortunate to have Al’s talent in our club.

On the same line of thought, the breakfast on the 13th, hosted by Capt. Jim and Tammy Markham was another winner. I’ve never had “breakfast burritos” before, but I hope to have them again soon. They were delicious!

By the time you receive this Towline, the St. Patrick’s weekend cruise to Poulsbo will be history. Based on the weekend’s list of activities, I’m sure it was a resounding success. Our Fleet Captain Andy, and First Mate Nancy Kupp, sure pulled out all of the stops to ensure no one could get bored during the weekend. Sharon and I were disappointed at not being able to attend, due to our representing BYC at the Olympia YC JO Ball over the same weekend.

Mark your calendars for several important upcoming “Social Events”: Tacoma YC Daffodil Festival weekend April 16th & 17th, the Sunday Breakfast on April 24th, the Seattle YC Opening Day Weekend - May 6-8, followed by BYC Awards Night on the Friday, May 13th (it won’t be an unlucky day).

On the other side of the coin, don’t forget the General Meetings in April and May where we’ll be nominating and electing Officers and two Executive Committee members as well as passing the Budget for next year; perhaps not as “fun” as the social side, but very important to the operation of our club. Come out and be a part of this necessary process.

In the mean time, hope to see you ‘round the club,

Charles Billings
Vice Commodore
