Commodore's Message (2002)
Commodore and Mrs. Lynne Rumbold on Sundance On May 17, the new club officers were installed. Please welcome our
new Commodore,
What an honor it is to be selected by you to be the Commodore of the Bremerton Yacht Club! I shall do my best to promote and protect our Club and to encourage all members to enjoy the benefits of belonging to such an outstanding organization. I am convinced that BYC is the finest yacht club in the Puget Sound area. It has a grand and respected history and everywhere I travel I hear the same comment of "What a great club Bremerton is!" We have the best facilities to be found anywhere, but more importantly, we have a membership of 300 members who care about the club and it's operation. This is evident at every social function, cruise-in and meeting. Since our founding in 1929 we have had 74 other Commodores who, through their able leadership, have set the course and have brought us to where we are today. They are the officers who established the traditions that make BYC the strong, viable, financially sound club that we are able to enjoy. But to only look back and bask in our past is foolhardy, we must always be looking forward to the future and make the course corrections necessary to meet the ever changing demands of our culture and environment. The other bridge officers, Executive Committee you elected, and the committee chairman I selected will conscientiously uphold the By-laws of the club and manage the operations to the best of our ability. Lynne and I are proud to belong to the Bremerton Yacht Club and look forward to this opportunity to serve the club. Respectfully,
Bill Rumbold
